Cumbria, the county otherwise known as The Lake District, is not only home to England’s only four mountains. The biggest of these mountains is Scarfell Pike at a towering three thousand two hundred and nine feet high. The county also has Lake Windermere, England’s biggest natural lake at a staggering ten and a half miles long, one mile wide and two hundred and twenty feet deep. These sites of natural beauty, combined with the other one hundred and fifty peaks and sixteen lakes go together to make The Lake District one of the United Kingdom’s most spectacular areas. <\/span><\/p>\n

The quaint cottages in Keswick<\/a>, shops, charming cafes and museums are just a few things to see in this market town in the north of The Lake District. It is becoming ever increasingly popular with tourists from far and wide with its market town status granted by King Edward the first in 1276. Deep in the heart of the Lake District National Park and just to the north of Lake Windermere sits the delightful town of Ambleside which has undergone a tourist revolution in the last twenty five years.
