When night falls, you\u2019re spoiled for choice. For an eye-opening evening, head to busy Bangla Road on Patong Beach, where you\u2019re sure to see some sights! Kamala Beach is home to the Phuket Fantasea Show, a Las Vegas-style evening of pyrotechnics, elephants, trapeze artists and actors. Many bars and restaurants line the resorts, however the main ones are on Patong Beach, with delicious, fresh Thai food available to sample.<\/p>\n

Thai boxing is hugely popular. Head out to see a match live, with highly-trained martial arts experts displaying their talents. Shows are available, if you want to see more.<\/p>\n

Sun-worshipping can get boring, so take a speedboat to one of the nearby islands and explore. A particularly popular cruise is Phang Nga Bay, north-east of Phuket, with its dramatic limestone islands. If exploring on foot, head to Old Phuket Town with its small, interesting shops and restaurants, and chilled out vibe.<\/p>\n

Of course, Asia is a spiritual place, and wouldn\u2019t be complete without a visit to Chalong\u2019s big Buddha statue. Standing atop the Nakkerd Hills, at 45 metres high, this huge statue is seen from far away and stands imposing over the island. The statue can be reached by road for wonderful, panoramic views. For more spirituality and an authentic Thai experience, head to Wat Chalong temple. Visiting a temple is a beautiful, serene experience and one not to be missed.<\/p>\n

Phuket has become family-friendly over the years and boasts many activities for children. Splash Jungle Water Park in Mai Khao is a fun day out for the family, and a great way to cool down! Kata Beach is also ideal for families, with vibrant, not bustling, nightlife.<\/p>\n

All beach resorts are small enough to get around on foot. However, if the heat gets too much, or you\u2019re just feeling lazy, buses are readily available, or you could hire a car. All resorts are linked by winding, coastal roads. A ferry runs regularly to Phi Phi Island, and tuk tuks can be hired, although be sure to haggle your price first.<\/p>\n

The best time to visit is December to March, when temperatures are cooler, hovering around the 24 degree mark. April to May is hot with frequent thundery downpours. Monsoon season is to be avoided.<\/p>\n
