Chianti Hills<\/span><\/h3>\n

Located between the beautiful cities of Florence, Pisa, and Siena, the Chianti hills are known for providing the region with some of it\u2019s fines dark red wines<\/a>. While you take the time to visiting the vineyards and sample some if its produce, though, remember that your trip is not complete without also exploring some the hilltop towns that make up area. Because Chianti was inaccessible from the ruinous barbarian invasions after the decline of the Roman Empire, it\u2019s beauty remains intact in stunning detail. These days, the rolling countryside consists of mostly gentle slopes and can be enjoyed by almost anyone interested in visiting these days.<\/p>\n

Garfagnana<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Garfagnana is a region in the upper valley of the river Serchio. It\u2019s almost entirely mountainous and densely wooded, and receives heavy rainfall during giving it lush, green surroundings. Despite all of this, trails can be hiked year-round and they are marked by blue and white signage. Routes are well-maintained and supported by Italy\u2019s Alpine Club and, while it may be a little out of the way for some, those who persevere will experience a unique side to the region. The Campocatino nature trail allows hikers to discover a basin created by glaciers as well as visit the homes of an ancient mountain town. Also in the nearby area is the famed Castiglione di Garfagnana, a medieval walled town and comune.<\/p>\n

Isola del Giglo<\/span><\/h3>\n

Finally, with a population of under 1,500, this sparsely populated island just off the coast of Tuscany Tyrrhenian Sea is the perfect place to visit if you want to truly get away from the tourist traps and experience an authentic way of life<\/a>. Fortunately, the island is also filled with plenty of short hiking trails for those visiting for the day. Despite covering just over nine square miles, there\u2019s enough geographical variety on the island to make the trip worth it.
