Why Go Pee Pee?

Phi Phi is known as the backpacker party island and it seems some people are put off by the idea of that.  Lucky for us we’re in our early twenties and the idea of a party island sounds just about perfect.

So what can you expect when you head over to Phi Phi?

People
A lot of them, mostly backpackers. The Thai islands are a very popular destination for the touring backpacker and whenever you arrive on Phi Phi you’ll always find a big crowd right away.

Lots of half naked guys showing off their six pack or trying to hide the fact it’s disappeared over the last few months while drinking too much beer. Then there’s the girls…..well, lots and lots of wonderful eye wandering to be done, need I say more?

Buckets
It’s hard to walk more than 50 meters without coming across a little table with buckets full of various bottles. Cheap Whiskey, even cheaper whiskey or vodka it all comes with a can of soft drink and some added redbull or m150 for a bit of kick.

These buckets are lethal and do the job perfect, just don’t expect a good nights sleep after all those energy drinks.

Beaches
Whether you stick to the backpacker side or head across to the quieter one’s your bound to find stunning beauty and tropical warm waters.

Along the main strip you’ll find the majority of the crowd recovering from the night before sleeping on the beach turning a nice bright shade of red.

Bars
There are bars everywhere and something for just about everyone. You can find bars overlooking the beach, prefect for chilling out, bars on the beach where you can party late into the night and a scatter of others throughout the town. Koh Phi Phi really is about the nightlife and there is always something going and plenty of people doing it.

Pizza
Small stalls throughout the island sell pizzas by the slice and unlike other places I’ve seen in Thailand this pizza is actually nice. You won’t go two minutes without seeing someone tucking in and for good reason, the pizza is usually fresh and cooked to perfection and pretty cheap too!

Boat Trips
On the beach you’ll regularly be asked if you want a “taxi boat” it’s well worth resisting the urge to say no straight away and negotiating a trip around the surrounding beaches and islands for some amazing views and snorkelling. You can’t come to Phi Phi without visiting ‘The Beach’ on Maya Bay either.

So far this has to be our favourite island.  It’s the perfect mix between the party vibe and stunning scenery, sure it’s full of backpackers but I don’t mind that , we’re backpackers as well no?

And as one famous bar on the island says: Fuck it, Have a bucket!
