When We Decided to Make the jump

When We Decided to Make the jump

We have both had the desire to go travelling since we were about 18, finally this has become reality and we start our adventure shortly before Poi’s 23rd birthday on 25th August 2010!

It was about a year ago now that we started talking seriously about how much we both really wanted to go travelling.  Tie this in with a week long holiday in Tenerife and thought of going back to work and we were set: We will go travelling after Kirsty finishes University!

First questions were when can we go? When do we want to go?

Easy: anytime after July when Kirsty graduates (hopefully) from University.

So we know we can go anytime after July, that leaves it wide open,  so when?

You think it would be quite easy to decide when to go don’t you?

“shall we go in July?”

“dunno?, august?”

“why august?”

“dunno”

For other people it obviously might need a bit more taking into consideration, by other people I mean people with responsabilities and commitments but for us two who are just winging it, we could go whenever we wanted.

We started to look at when certain festivals are on that we wanted to attend (as the guide books suggest) however we soon realised its near on impossible to arrange your time to make every event that you want to. I am not saying don’t do this because if you can great!

This is when we decided to go whenever we could find a flight at a decent price and time. In November last year Poi came home from work one day and started looking at flights, two days later they were booked, non-refundable, no turning back. No more doubts, it’s really happening August 25th

Since then we have never looked back – We can’t wait!

Congrats on booking the flights. No turning back! Have you found any festivals in your destination yet? Funny…I was recently considering planning some trips around festivals. I’m not sure of the destination yet…maybe the Shenandoah Mountains in the eastern U.S.

It would be brilliant if you could get round all the festivals you want however for us we just couldn’t fit it all in, the main plan now is to just see what happens, if we’re close by and somethings going on, great! Good luck with your trip!
