We’re don’t consider ourselves photographers what so ever and we’re guilty of forgetting to take pictures most of the time. However, over a year of travel we have managed to take just about enough for a good look back over our time away. So here’s the story of our journey in picture form.

A Year of Travel in Pictures -

We’ve posted our favourite photos of China and Vietnam. Now we are settled in Bangkok, we’ve been looking through our favourite pictures and memories of our time in Laos and thought we would share some of those with you:

Favourite Photos from Laos -

I was going to record a video of me walking round the apartment proper cribs style, comeplete with the mandatory jump on the bed – “this is where the magic happens” but my parents read this and don’t need to see that.

So instead, we’ve cleaned up and taken some pretty pictures for you to enjoy.

We’ve chose to live in the Pin Klao area of Bangkok for two main reason’s:

1) Many of Kirstys colleaugues live here so it’s easy for them to share rides to school each morning.
2) We found this apartment, which Kirsty fell in love with seconds after coming through the door.

To give you some more info on the place, we were the first people to view the apartment the day it became available, being far better furnished than many others we looked at we snapped it up sharpish.

The rent however is far more expensive than we were looking for but Kirsty forgets such details when she likes something so here we are – 17,000 baht a month. I of course am happy however as I shall be spending much of my time sitting at the table on the computer while she’s at work.

So enough nonesense, I know you’ve all just come to have a snoop around like real nosey neighbours, so here is our 2 bed, 2 bathroom, 2 balcony apartment on the 21st floor:

Just before Christmas we posted our favourite photos of China. Now we’ve left Chiang Mai we started to look through our time in Vietnam and thought we would share with you some our favorite memories and pictures:

Lunch at Free Bird Cafe

…. is my lunch from Free Bird Cafe this weekend, a toasted egg salad sandwich with curry, the food here is delicious and the drinks are great too. Since our first week in Chiang Mai I have had at least one Lime and Mint shake from Free bird Cafe a week.

Free Bird Cafe is the home of Team Chiang Mai who meet here every Friday lunch time just for a chat and some great food, the best thing about it being, all profits go towards a great cause, I suggest reading more here.. Thai Freedom House.

….. is a close up shot (or should I say zoomed up close shot) of an ostrich at Chiang Mai Zoo, it’s by no means the greatest zoo in the world but we had fun as part of our no laptop day mid week. We also went to the Cinema for just over a pound each, an amazing pizza and a massage for Kirsty – I’m too ticklish.

Welcome to another new segment on our blog – Each week there are so many little things we get up to that are never mentioned on here, so from now on every weekend we will be sharing with you a photo from our week, this could be anything from something we’ve seen walking round town, a good meal or an some wierdo we bumped into (if we dare take a picture of them.)

Duck and Noodles – Taken at a small duck restaurant/cafe that @gotpassport introduced to us.  We decided to eat here as we were in the area and we’re told how good it was when we ate next door at the hotpot buffet. This place fills up really quickly when it opens at 6pm and for good reason, the duck is amazing however you have it served.

Watch out for some food posts coming soon with more information, It’s hard to go 5 minutes without eating something in Chaing Mai.

When we arrived in Chiang Mai  Jeremy from Living the Dream persuaded us to join him on a trip to Tiger Kingdom the next day, he was leaving the following day and we’d been trying to meet up since China so we jumped at the chance. The baby tigers are about 5/6 months old and about the size of a small dog already! These are quite possibly the cutest things I have seen in a while!

So the biggest you can hang out with at Tiger Kingdom is under two years, we got to chill with an 18month old called Oscar, and he was plenty big enough. A mixture of scared faces and trying to pretend this is natural…

At first, I really wasn't enjoying it... and questioning why the hell I just got into the cage

but then I relaxed... granted their both asleep

Yeah, when it's awake again I'm not sure.... The boys seem fine!

Once they are two, the general public aren’t allowed near them and they are sold to zoos as part of a breeding program. Thank god we didn’t have to pet them – I was freaking out enough at the big size!

We had a brilliant time at Tiger Kingdom. To enter three different cages it cost 1260 Thai baht each, around 25 pounds.
